Bosch / Ariston S series Mini-Tanks
Ariston Mini-Tanks updated to S series - Flow Factor
The new Ariston GL6S Plus electric mini-tank water heaters have just arrived. This water heater is the direct replacement for the recently obsoleted Ariston GL6+ (GL6PLUS).
The main difference between the older GL6+ and the new GL6+S is that the GL6+ came with a power cord that plugged directly into a 120V wall socket while the new GL6+S does not come with a power cord. The GL6+S must be hardwired at the time of installation.

The new Ariston GL6+S model has many new improvements since it has been upgraded. The mini tank has a new temperature adjustment knob on the front of the unit to raise and lower the temperature from 65 Deg F to 145 Deg F. On the older model you would have to remove the blue oval cover to access the temperature knob.
The Ariston GL6+S model has a new improved thermostat that features a new sensing probe that is attached to the thermostat and inserts into the cavity of the new element so the heater can adjust temperatures quicker and maintain a more consistent heat.

The replacement parts for the new Ariston GL2.5S and the GL4S will not work for the older GL2.5 and GL4 mini tank heaters.

Tankless Heaters are designed to save on electricity and to allow for unlimited hot water.
However, there are variables that need to be considered when purchasing a Tankless heater.
Electric tankless heaters can require larger size wires and panels than standard tank heaters. At Flow Factor we will go over in detail what the heaters require so you can have a proper installation. And with a proper installation, the heater will perform as designed.
Variables that affect the outlet water temperature, are heater KW, flow rate and inlet temperature. These three variables affect all water heating appliances and the potential output temperatures. A tankless heater heats the water as it flows through the heater. Each electric (and gas) heater has a maximum heater capability. For example, the largest heater, the AE125, is about 27 kilo watts. The AE 125 can heat a flow rate of 2.5 gallons per minute (gpm) 65 degrees. Meaning it can change the temperature of the water 65 degrees. So if the inlet is 40 degrees the output temperature will be 105. It cannot produce water hotter than that at that flow rate. If the flow drops to 2.0 gpm than the amount of change increases. If the flow is more than 2.5, than the amount of change decreases. At 4.0 gpm, the change is 45 degrees. A standard USA shower is normally 2.5 gpm.
