Stiebel Eltron Tempra Tankless Water Heaters

Tankless Technology by the Electric Tankless Leader, Stiebel-Eltron and Flow Factor

The Tempra® series has been redesigned completely inside and out - upgraded heavy-duty electronics, a simple single flow sensor design, a hinged cover for easy access, and Tempra Advanced Flow Control for the Tempra® Plus.

The Tempra® continually heats water instantaneously as you require it - and only when you require it. The Tempra® unit completely replaces a conventional tank heater with no disruption to your comfort and hot water needs.

he Tempra® Plus is the most technologically advanced tankless water heater available on the market today.

Tempra Advanced Flow Control is exclusive to the Tempra® Plus and ensures a constant temperature output no matter how great the hot water demand is.

Tempra Advanced Flow Control technology works by automatically adjusting the flow of water to eliminate unpleasant temperature fluctuation.

What that means to you is a consistently satisfying experience every time, all the time!

Electric tank type water heaters are subject to stand-by losses which amount to 15 - 20% of the kWH used. In addition, water in a tank has to be heated hotter than necessary to account for these stand-by losses.

Changing to a tankless system like the Tempra® eliminates these problems and results in typical savings of at least 15 - 20% on the hot water portion of your electric bill.

Set the knob on the front cover and enjoy water temperatures between 86°F (30°C) and 140°F (60°C). Change the desired temperature at anytime. Advanced microprocessor technology ensures that the water temperature never deviates from the set point.

The Tempra® has several advantages over a gas-type tankless water heater. Compared to many similar gas tankless models the Tempra® is less expensive to purchase. Installation is also much simpler and cheaper since it is not necessary to vent a Tempra® to the outside.

The venting that a gas unit requires causes anywhere from a 10 - 20% efficiency reduction from heat escaping out the exhaust pipe. Furthermore, for every cubic foot of gas burned, roughly two cubic feet of air have to be mixed in to create ideal combustion. In a cold climate, this hurts efficiency further.

When a gas unit fires it draws in air around it, heats the water, and then expels warm exhaust outside. Since no house is airtight, this suction action causes a drafting condition where cold air from the outside seeps back in through door cracks and other parts of the house that may not be airtight.

By nature of the design, the Tempra® is nearly 100% efficient; converting 100% of the electrical energy it consumes into heat. All that heat is then transferred to the water - none is lost to the outdoors.

The Tempra® is a tankless water heater system, and is thereby not subject to seismic code. There is no need for preventative construction, as required when using a tank type water heater.

The Tempra® has several temperature and flow sensors which feed their readings into the unit’s proprietary microprocessor control. Heating elements are engaged in stages, achieving the temperature you desire. The Tempra® continually monitors the water temperature it produces.

Industrial Circulation / Tankless Heaters

Flow Factor provides in pipe heaters for heating liquids and gases.
Inline pipe heaters are also known as circulation heaters, tankless heaters, in-line heaters or instantaneous heaters.
Industrial circulation heaters are packaged units consisting of a screwplug or flanged immersion heater mounted in a thermally insulated heating chamber for efficient heating of a flowing medium by in-line (tankless) or side-arm operation. Thermocouple sensors can be provided to connect to most any controller. Select from many terminal enclosures, sheath and vessel materials, flanged connections, and controls. Many models in stock.

Circulation heaters provide a ready-made means to install electric heating with a minimal amount of time and labor. This is accomplished by combining heating elements, vessel, insulation, terminal enclosure, mounting brackets and inlet and outlet connections into a complete assembly.
Made from NPT screw plug or ANSI flange heater assemblies mated with a pressure vessel (tank), circulation heaters are designed to heat forced-circulation air, gases or liquids. Ideal for either in-line or side-arm operations, these assemblies direct fluids past FIREBAR® or WATROD™ heating elements, to deliver fast response and even heat distribution.
Applications include: Water Heating, Freeze Protection, Heat Transfer Oil Heating, Fuel Oil Heating, Stea, Air, and Gas Heating and others.

• Watt densities up to 120 W/in2 (18.6 W/cm2)
• Wattages to three megawatts
• UL® and CSA component recognition up to 600VAC (FIREBAR to 480VAC)
• Ratings to ANSI Class 600 pressure class
• Incoloy® sheath temperatures up to 1600°F (870°C)
• Passivated 316 stainless steel sheath temperatures up to 1200°F (650°C)
• Steel sheath temperatures to 750°F (400°C) • Copper sheath temperatures to 350°F (175°C) • Up to 3000psi design pressure
Clean Water Heaters are ideal for heating municipal water for industrial washing and rinsing processes. Other applications include indirect heating of viscous liquids and temperature maintenance of storage tanks.
Light and Medium Weight Oil Heaters are ideal for temperature maintenance and for improving flow characteristics of oils. Heavy or Fuel Oil Heaters will reduce the viscosity, thereby improving flow and process efficiency.
Industrial circulation heaters provide a cost effective means for heating air and common industrial gases such as Argon, Helium and Nitrogen. They can also be used to increase the enthalpy and quality of steam.
Mild corrosive heaters allow the heating of solutions using stainless elements and a passivated stainless pipe body. Highly corrosive solutions and oils can be heated with the low watt density INCOLOY® sheath elements coupled with a passivated Stainless Steel pipe body, providing long service life.

Typical Applications
Water: • Deionized • Demineralized • Clean • Potable • Process • Industrial water rinse tanks •

Lubricating oils at API specified watt densities • Heat transfer oil • Paraffin • Caustic cleaners •
Hydraulic oil, crude, asphalt

Nitrogen, hydrogen and other air/gas systems • Superheating steam

Wattages and Voltages
Watlow routinely supplies circulation heaters from 120 to 600VAC (WATROD to 600VAC) as well as wattages from 500 watts to three megawatts. If required, Watlow will configure circulation heaters with voltages and wattages outside these parameters.

Weatherproof Protective Steel Jacket (Shroud)
To protect circulation heaters from weather or wash-down conditions, fully welded (weatherproof) or partially welded (standard) outer protective steel jackets are available. Standard steel, or made-to-order 304 or 316 stainless steel can be supplied. Jacket diameter is dependent upon thermal insulation thickness.

Bosch Electric Tankless Heaters

Bosch Electric Tankless Heaters

Flow Factor Sells Bosch Electric Tankless Heaters

Tankless Heaters are designed to save on electricity and to allow for unlimited hot water.

However, there are variables that need to be considered when purchasing a Tankless heater.

Electric tankless heaters can require larger size wires and panels than standard tank heaters.  At Flow Factor we will go over in detail what the heaters require so you can have a proper installation.  And with a proper installation, the heater will perform as designed.

Variables that affect the outlet water temperature, are heater KW, flow rate and inlet temperature.  These three variables affect all water heating appliances and the potential output temperatures.  A tankless heater heats the water as it flows through the heater.  Each electric (and gas) heater has a maximum heater capability.  For example, the largest heater, the AE125, is about 27 kilo watts.  The AE 125 can heat a flow rate of 2.5 gallons per minute (gpm) 65 degrees.  Meaning it can change the temperature of the water 65 degrees. So if the inlet is 40 degrees the output temperature will be 105.  It cannot produce water hotter than that at that flow rate. If the flow drops to 2.0 gpm than the amount of change increases.  If the flow is more than 2.5, than the amount of change decreases.  At 4.0 gpm, the change is 45 degrees.  A standard USA shower is normally 2.5 gpm.  We can describe all the heaters and their heating capabilities.

Whole House Heaters, showers, wash machines, sinks.
Bosch PowerStar AE125  27 KW Heater, 240 volts, 3x40 amp circuit breakers.

Bosch PowerStar AE115  17 KW Heater, 240 volts, 2x40 amp circuit breakers.
(The AE 115 requires 60+ inlet water temperatures.)

Point of Use Water Heater: Sinks, Dishwashers, low flow shower.
Bosch PowerStar AE12  12 KW Heater, 240 Volts, 1 x 50 amp circuit breaker.  ( RP12 )

Point of Use Water Heaters, Sinks and Dish washers:
Bosch PowerStar AE9.5  9.5 KW Heater, 240 volts, 1 x 40 amp breaker   ( RP9 )

Bosch PowerStar AE7.2  7.2 KW Heater, 240 volts, 1 x 30 amp breaker  ( RP7 )

Bosch PowerStar AE3.4  3.4 KW Heater, 120 volts, 1 x 30 amp breaker  ( RP3 )

The Key to using Tankless Heaters is understanding how they work, how they heater water, their capabilities and their electrical requirements.  With these parameters all being met, the heater will work as advertised and produce the water temperatures needed.
